Development Continues

August 7th, 2008

Im currently putting the finishing touches on the beerXML parser for BrewBlogger.

Here is the feature list as of right now:

Complete

  • Fully compliant BeerXML parser
  • Conversion of units based on brewBlogger preferences
  • Inserting beerXML files into recipes

In Work

  • Detect BeerSmith XML files and parse in “quirks” mode, as this program deviates somewhat from the standard
  • Error handling with pretty error message
  • Inserting beerXML files into brew blogs. Will probably be implemented later when BrewBlogger becomes fully beerXML compliant

In other news, I’ll soon be starting development on an Ampache application for the iPhone.  For those who don’t know, Ampache (www.ampache.org) is a music streaming application written in php.  In its latest release, Ampache includes support for XML-RPC calls to retrieve its catalog and play songs.  This project and the beerXML parser will soon be hosted at dev.oskarstephens.com (nothing here yet).

Hello everyone, I’ve decided to set up this blog so there is at least something to see at my main site(www.oskarstephens.com).

I’ve recently submitted a patch to the fantastic OSS BrewBlogger application, which allows users to upload BeerXML files into their recipes table.  If anyone would like to contribute, i’ll be setting up a bug tracker and git repository, which will most likely be found at trac.oskarstephens.com and git.oskarstephens.com respectively.

In the meantime, have a look at my BrewBlogger instance brew.oskarstephens.com
